Viresco™ and Humate Horticultural Products
Introduction
The basic programme for most horticultural applications is as follows:
1. | Incorporate granular Humate into the growing
media. Where this cannot be done, eg on lawns or golf greens,
top dress with granular Humate. |
2. | Then apply to the surface of the growing
medium a solution of the inoculant Viresco™ Soluble and
water in. |
3. | Then spray the foliage monthly with a solution of Viresco™ Foliar and soluble Humate As. |
We also offer three more specialist Viresco™ products, ie Viresco™ Hydroponics, Viresco™ Mycorrhiza and Viresco™ Composter S. We also have one other Humate product which is a soluble powder Humate Iron Chelate. In addition, we sell a Fulvic Acid product. These are all described more fully elsewhere on this website.
Humate (granular) Buy
Online
Humate is available in three
different grades. These are termed Humate coarse grade, Humate medium
grade and fine grade. The respective particle sizes are 3.4mm to
powder, 1.2mm to 0.5mm and less than 0.3mm. The particle size is
chosen according to the application.
For general potting
use or for incorporation into soils outdoors, then choose
coarse grade Humate. For smaller pot work or for use on lawns
as a dressing, then choose medium grade Humate. For mixing
in with propagation mixes, use fine grade Humate. |
|
Usage rates are about 10g (2 x 5ml teaspoonfuls) per
10 litres of compost or other growing medium. As a top dressing
on pots and lawns, it should be used at about 25 to 30g per square
metre.
Humate As (soluble) Buy
Online
Humate As is applied as a liquid. It is advisable to dissolve the
product in water to make up a mother solution. If the 60g pack is
dissolved in water and made up to 250 ml, then the volumes given
below relate to that strength of solution.
|
For most applications 5ml of the mother solution should be used in 10 litres of water. This can be used as a drench on all types of plants with or without liquid fertiliser. |
As mentioned above this product should be used in the solution of Viresco Foliar when it is applied monthly.
Humate Iron Chelate (soluble) Buy
Online
This is a similar product to Humate As but contains nitrogen (6.0%),
potassium (2.0%) and iron (10.0%). It is very useful for correcting
deficiencies of iron in soils and composts. It is very useful for
treating acid loving plants such as rhododendrons, azaleas, magnolias
and heathers. It is as stable in low and high pH (pH 4 to pH 10)
solutions as is Fe-EDDHA.
Fulvic Acid Buy
Online
Our Fulvic Acid capsules of approximately 1g each are used to improve
the take -up of nutrients into plants. The product, available in
packs of 25 capsules, can be used both as a foliar feed supplement
or on growing media.
Viresco™ Soluble Buy
Online This is the basic inoculant treatment. A solution is made up, applied to soil or compost and then watered in. The 25g pack will treat about 75m² of growing medium area. It should be watered in after application. One application is normally made during a growing season although where there are diseases present, more than one application can be made. |
|
Viresco™ Foliar Buy
Online
A solution of Viresco™ Foliar should
be sprayed on the leaf every month. The 25g pack will treat about
200m² of leaf area. Because it is generally difficult to calculate
the area of leaf, we suggest that about 1.5g (about half a 5ml spoonful)
should be dissolved in about 2 litres of water and sprayed on the
leaf to run off.

Viresco™ Mycorrhiza Buy
Online
Mycorrhizal fungi live in symbiotic harmony with most plant
root systems. Nutrients are passed to the plant from the fungus
and carbohydrates are passed to the fungus from the plant. Growth
is enhanced and, in instances where there is poor nutrition, this
improvement in growth can be considerable.
This product should be applied to the root zone and it can be done either in the dry form or as a solution.
Viresco™ Mycorrhiza contains 11 mycorrhizal species, of which 7 are endotrophic and 4 are ectotrophic. The endotrophic types are generally associated with soft tissue plants whereas the ectotrophic forms are linked to trees. |

Viresco™ Hydroponics Buy
Online
This Viresco™ product, as the name
implies, should be used in hydroponics solutions. The 50g pack,
which contains Humate As, should be used in 1000 litres of water.
This gives a dilution rate of 5 ppm of the microbial product.
Viresco™
Composter S Buy
Online
This product contains micro-organisms that digest waste organic
matter bulked up with soluble powder Humate As. The 50g pack will
treat about 5 cubic metres of organic waste.
pH Test Kit Buy
Online
This is a simple-to-use contact strip method. If your soil or other growing media is damp from rain, simply press the end of strip against the soil and read off the colour key. If the soil is dry, moisten with a few drops of de-ionised or distilled water. The strips, provided in packs of 10, will read from pH2 up to pH9.
It is important to ensure plants are grown in media with the correct pH range. With pH7 defined as neutral, pH levels less than 7 are acidic and greater than 7 are alkaline. Most vegetables and garden flowers require slightly acidic to slightly alkaline conditions, eg pH5.5 to pH7.5. Examples are beet pH6.5 to 7.5, onion pH5.8 to 7.0, tomato pH5.5 to 7.5, cabbage pH6.0 to 7.5, carnation pH6.5 to 7.0, chrysanthemum pH6.0 to 7.5, begonia pH5.5 to 7.5, geranium pH6.0 to 8.0. Examples of plants that require more acidic conditions are azalea pH4.5 to 5.0, camellia pH4.5 to 5.5, magnolia pH5.0 to 6.0 and rhododendron ph4.5 to 6.0.
